John W. Kozyak is a Partner with Kozyak Tropin & Throckmoton, P.A., specializing in commercial litigation and bankruptcy. He is a cum laude graduate of University of Illinois and Washington University School of Law.
Mr. Kozyak’s numerous achievements include Past President, Director and former CLE Chairman of the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida. John was Editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly, Honoree of the John W. Kozyak Award for Bankruptcy Excellence, “Put Something Back” Pro Bono Award for Bankruptcy in 1994, Black Lawyers Association certificate of appreciation, distinguished alumni award from Washington University School of Law and Black Law Students Association Award for Outstanding Support and Commitment. The University Of Miami School Of Law established the “John Kozyak Minority Mentoring Program” in 2002, for his tireless efforts to promote diversity in the legal community.
John Kozyak has lectured, taught and written extensively mostly regarding bankruptcy issues, loan workouts and foreclosures. John is presently serving on the Robert Waters Memorial Scholarship Fund. Robert Waters was the first African American law professor at the University of Miami School of Law.
John is married to appellate lawyer Barbara Ann Silverman. They have two sons Benjamin and Jeremy.
