Walter J. Harvey is a candidate for President-Elect of the Black Lawyers Association (BLA). If elected, Mr. Harvey intends to help the BLA carry out its mission to educate, train and inform black lawyers in South Florida, and to assist in the the uplift the black community. Mr. Harvey also hopes to enhance the BLA's reputation, profile, stature and respect among the local Bar associations, community leaders and the community as a whole.
Mr. Harvey is a partner with the Miami-based international law firm, Steel Hector & Davis LLP. An experienced litigator, Mr. Harvey has handled a variety of complex cases concerning commercial and residential developments, construction, and federal class-action disputes. He also has handled various appeals in federal and state courts.
Mr. Harvey also is active in the community, where he has served as a member on several boards including the Miami-Dade County Decennial Charter Review Task Force, the Public Health Trust, the Urban League of Greater Miami and the Miami-Dade Community Relations Board.
